3/100 PODIUM DAY! A second faster than last year !!
I am feeling very grateful and extra fortunate for a “podium day” against such speedy women! Also, incredibly blessed for friends, fun and being part!
Thanks Apple Therapy Services for being a race sponsor and getting me through injuries.
This was my third consecutive year racing Millennium Mile. Even though temperature was around 40, decided to not wear shorts due to the wind. I picked up my race number, did a brief warm up along the course, had some banana… got up to the line early enough to do some strides.
Another runner doing strides near me was shirtless! Beautifully done National Anthem and the anticipation… getting prepared and we were off! I love seeing the ¼ mile markers and when the course goes slightly downhill… saw Dave Audet, but couldn’t pass him. It’s so cool when you start being able to hear announcer Andy Schachat’s voice as you approach the finish line. It’s fabulous to know that you don’t have far until the finish line – plus Andy’s calling out how many seconds left to break a 4:00 minute mile, 5:00 minute, 6:00 minute, 7:00 minute, etc. The “built in” warm down is back to the start and it’s fun to encourage other runners who are still on the course.
